Google’s New Favicon

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

So amazing that such a small little icon could cause such a fuss. But then again I have to admit it threw me off a bit. Every visit to their page I kept glancing at the icon wondering if they had changed it or if I was losing my mind. (I, apparently, had not paid an adequate amount of attention to their previous favicon)

PS: Yes I do realize there is a certain irony in linking to a Google search about Google’s new favicon. I just find it amazing how many blogs picked up on this as if it’s some breaking news story…. *looks around innocently*

A possible explanation: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/05/new-google-favicon.html

In a related sidenote: I found this site today (though Google) and thought it was great. This is a simple .favicon creation service for people who may not have access to .favicon software or don’t have the ability to save .ico files in their image editor of choice. This website allows you to upload a regular image file and creates an .ico package with the favicon pre-made for you. Even includes some nifty extras like an animated .gif version. I thought it was pretty cool!

Two new Freeware OS X apps will be up and available for download soon as I continue to try and get all of the final pages of the BravoBug site up and running. CocoaSlide is a substitute for the OS X slideshow feature which provides a quick and easy way to view a directory of images. MacTimer is a simple but effective timer application featuring attractive lightweight timers and a handy fullscreen mode.

Be sure to check ‘em out!

The official MiLife v1.0 package is available for download at http://bravobug.com/milife. MiLife is a unique and fun diary program that acts as an organic, creative writing assistant to help you keep a daily journal of notes, ideas, or personal memos.

Some of the features: diary organization, password protection, 128-bit AES encryption, ambient soundtracks, and more!

Stay tuned for the official press release plus some extra goodies and links. Check out the download (Requires OS X).

MiLife is still in its infancy. The 1.0 release is intended to be a solid initial release but many new features are in the works for the next version, including blogging support, plus audio and video embedding. Stay tuned!

The first official post on BravoBug’s news blog! The site was moved live several days ago although it’s taken me a bit of time to get around to getting this section uploaded. Check back soon as there will be several new freeware and Shareware programs being released shortly. I plan on throwing the official MiLife press release up here as well, plus some more details on The Wild West and the upcoming BravoBug productivity utility called the DragVortex. I’m excited about it and I’ll have some more details soon.

Thanks for stopping by and please visit again!
