Free sounds for Lotus

Monday, October 27th, 2008

For Lotus users who might like some additional sounds for their timer, here are some free sound effects you can use. To use these simply download them to a safe place on your hard drive. Then in Lotus’ settings window, choose ‘Custom Sound File’ from the pop-up menu and select one of these sound files. Enjoy!

Soothing Gong

The new MacBook Pro

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Quite simply, one of the most beautifully-designed pieces of machinery I’ve seen lately. It is really just a marvel what Apple is continuing to do with their hardware. These kinds of design enhancements, although some might say are nothing more than aesthetic or even trivial, just continue to backup the saying that Macintoshes are the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of computing.

OpenOffice 3 Available!

Monday, October 13th, 2008

OpenOffice 3 has been released and includes an OS X native version available for download. For anyone who needs to read, edit, and save Microsoft Office documents like Word or Excel files, this is an absolutely fantastic alternative to buying Office. And best of all, it’s free of course!

New projects in the works

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Some of you may have noticed that The Wild West was removed from the games area of the site. Although I’d very much like to finish that project, BravoBug currently has its sights set on something far more exciting and much more ambitious. Work is progressing slowly but surely. Some promo graphics for the website have already been done but I will be waiting to post any additional info until the game is closer to its shipping date. And right now there is still plenty of work to be done.

But please do check back for updates, there are some very good things to come! ;) Stay tuned.

Lotus & Mac Sleep Mode

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

One thing that wasn’t mentioned in Lotus’ help and FAQ window which I felt deserved special mention is that Lotus’s chimes will not sound if your Mac ‘falls asleep’ (ie, enters Energy-Saver mode). In future versions of Lotus, assuming support is ample and development continues, I may add an option to automatically prevent your Mac from falling asleep. I’m not sure how necessary this is, but if anyone who uses Lotus would find that kind of feature helpful, please let me know. (And by all means, if you have any other suggestions please send them my way, I would love to hear them.)

In the meantime, you can of course temporarily disable your sleep mode with a myriad of 3rd party utilities. Note: the monitor/screen can be in sleep mode and Lotus will work fine, it is only if your entire Mac goes to sleep in which Lotus will not sound the timers.

Thank you all again for downloading Lotus.

Lotus 1.0 released

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

A new freeware app is available from BravoBug Software. Lotus is a unique 3-phase timer application designed specifically for unobtrusive meditation timing, but flexible enough for a variety of purposes. It includes over a dozen high-quality sound files, or you can customize your timers by using your own MP3’s or sound files.

Lotus is free to use, and can be downloaded at: http://bravobug.com/lotus
