Apple iPad Announced

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Apple unveiled today its newest device, the iPad, confirming the flurry of rumors that had been circulating across the net.

Official iPad website: http://www.apple.com/ipad/

The iPad features a large(r) screen, same great multitouch from the iPhone and iPod Touch, pricing starting at $499. Runs iPhone apps and will also accommodate newer apps that take advantage of the iPad’s large 1024×768 display and other hardware enhancements. I was especially struck by the emphasis of the book reader and the new eBook store in the official promotional video, a clear push onto the territory of Kindle, et al.

New: BuddhaCandle for iPhone & iPod Touch

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

BuddhaCandle is a simple, fun, and relaxing novelty app for your iPhone or iPod Touch. It provides a Buddha statue and flickering candle animation: just tap The Buddha to instantly light the candle. Tap again to see one of 30 quotes from The Buddha, or swipe (or shake) your iPhone to blow the candle out. It’s the perfect app to tap when you need a quick way to relax yourself and gain a sense of peace and equanimity during your day.

Best of all, BuddhaCandle is free. BuddhaCandle is available in the app store. Or visit the official webpage.

Thank You

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Just wanted to post a quick Thank You to everyone who has supported BravoBug Software the past year and a half. BravoBug is coming up on its 2 year birthday in May, and its entire existence has only been possible because of you.

BravoBug has not been, since its start, a very ‘typical’ Mac software company, making some truly oddball apps (PocketLint?) and doing things from time to time a bit differently than the ‘other guys’. The fact that BravoBug has continued to grow despite very little mainstream acceptance or publicity from the major Mac media publications and websites, is a testament to the integrity and creative mindset of the Mac community.

So, thank you for your support. We will continue to improve our apps to be the best they can be, and we hope you’ll continue to find them useful and, most importantly, fun.

Printable iPhone UI Design Template

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Here is a printable template which is helpful in designing and sketching out iPhone app user interfaces. Each page has 3 iPhone screens with a small grid (each square = 32 iPhone screen pixels), and a space for notes.

Click here to get the image in PNG format (or right-click and choose ‘Save As…). You can open it up directly in Photoshop and print onto a standard 8.5×11″ sheet of paper. The image has .5″ margins around all sides and should print well on any standard desktop printer.

Enjoy.

TankBuddy, the easy and fun aquarium maintenance utility for Mac, is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This new version of TankBuddy has been completely redesigned and rewritten from the ground-up specifically for the iPhone and iPod.

TankBuddy makes it easy to maintain your aquariums, giving you unlimited tanks, each of which has its own pH, ammonia, water change, and feeding logs. Tanks can be updated with just a few taps, and even have their own notepads you can use to keep a shopping or To Do list. As soon as it’s launched, TankBuddy will show you instantly how many of your tanks are past-due for a water change or a feeding.
